November Monthly Meeting
Elizabeth Harris was the speaker for the November Meeting. She kindly stepped in at the last minute when the advertised speaker was unable to attend. Elizabeth makes curtains and other window dressings, plus accessories just outside Penzance, and brought along a variety of beautiful fabrics and trimmings for members to look at. She explained how the fabric choice, style of window dressing, trims and headings all combine to make a statement to complement a property and it’s location.
A Weekend Just for You
Gail, Mary and Lisa joined WI members from all over Cornwall for ‘A Weekend Just for You’ at Treloyan Manor. They all chose the Photography option and spend a great couple of days learning about composition, taking photos and then editing their pictures. The photography teacher was David Chapman, who helped everyone get the most out of the weekend with his advice and tuitionĀ Thanks to CFWI for organising the event. We look forward to another one in the not too distant future!
100 Years of Madron WI
Two members of Crowlas and Ludgvan WI were invited to join Madron WI for their Suffragette March. The march celebratedĀ combined Centenaries for both Madron WI and 100 Years since women were given the vote. Local schoolchildren and Mayor of Penzance Dick Cliffe joined in with the ladies, who were dressed in appropriate centenary outfits for the march which was followed by tea at the Landithy Hall in Madron.

October Walk
Watercolour Workshop
An enthusiastic group of members attended a Watercolour Workshop at The Murley Hall with local artist Nigel Haward. With Nigel’s tuition everyone painted a landscape picture of St Michael’s Mount and a still life of an autumnal wedding cake with fantastic results. Thank you to Val for organising another great experience.
Camera Club October Meeting
Camera Club went to Tehidy for their October Meeting. With a challenge to take a photo of a bird, an animal, something colourful, trees and a person there was plenty to keep everyone busy. Finishing with a cup of tea and a cake in the cafe, a lovely afternoon was had by all.Ā Next month’s meeting is at Dynamite Quay, Lelant.Ā
October Monthly Meeting
Jane Mills brought a taste of Autumn to the Murley Hall with a variety of easy seasonal recipes for members to try. There was Apple Cornflake Flan, Plum Mousse and Salted Caramel Cheesecake, plus a great way to feed a crowd with mini filled rolls and a delicious Cider Apple Punch that went down very well!Ā Jane provided recipe sheets for everyone to take home, so no excuses for not giving them a go at home.
Big Day Out 2018
We made an early start, by coach, on our trip to Buckfast AbbeyĀ Devon, which is a working monastery Ā of Benedictine monks.
We then visited the shop where the monastery’s famous and most successful product was on sale, the Buckfast Tonic Wine!
