This month’s walk
Shirley’s walk this month is actually before our monthly meeting, so I thought you’d all like a reminder!
The walk is 5 1/2 miles long and will take in Wheal Prosper mine and Rinsey Head on Wednesday 15 October.
If you’re interested or would like more details, please contact Shirley on (01736) 741324 or by email on grumpi@tiscali.co.uk.
September walk
The date of this month’s walk with Shirley has changed. Instead of being held on the 17th, it will be on Wednesday 24 September. The walk will take us to Nine Maidens and Lanyon Quoit, and will be approximately 3.5 miles long.
Our monthly walks are a great chance to get a bit of exercise, take in some gorgeous scenery and get to know other WI members outside our monthly meetings!
If you’d like to go on this walk or any future walks, contact Shirley Battle on (01736) 741324 or by email at grumpi@tiscali.co.uk.
August walk
A July walk
Yesterday, our walking group set off in the hot sun for a walk around St Just, Botallack and Cape Cornwall.
They certainly earned their pub lunch at the end of the walk!
You can see more photos of the walk here.
July’s Walk
Pat Gloyn will be leading our walk this month, as Shirley is on holiday. The walk will be on Tuesday the 22nd of July, instead of the usual Wednesday.
Pat has done a recce of the walk and it sounds brilliant! You’ll be heading from the back of St Just across the fields and valleys to Botallack, along the cliffs above the Botallack Crowns to the back of Cape Cornwall and finally up into St Just. The walk is suitable for dogs.
Members can either bring a picnic lunch with them or have a drink, etc. in St Just. Pat will clarify all the details at our meeting next Monday.
The walk will begin promptly at 10am from the free car park in St Just. It will take about 3 hours at a reasonable rate to take in all the areas of interest along the way. Sun hats are advised if it’s a sunny day! If the weather is appalling, Pat will ring those interested to cancel as it’s not a suitable walk for bad weather.
If you’re interested, either speak to Pat at Monday’s meeting or drop us an email on crowlasludgvanwi@gmail.com. Please note that the walk will be on Tuesday this month, and not on Wednesday.
Upcoming walk
This Wednesday, the 18th, Shirley Battle will be leading a very special walk around Widemouth Bay, Bude and Bude Canal.
The drive to and from the walk is about 1 1/2 hours each way, and the walk itself will take 3 1/2 hours (approximately 5 miles), so be prepared to be out most of the day.
If you’d like to go, please contact Shirley on 741324 or by email on grumpi@tiscali.co.uk. Car sharing will be vital for this walk, so she’ll need a list of people in order to organise lifts.
Shirley will be away in July so we’re looking for someone who’d like to volunteer to lead July’s walk. If you’d like to, please let Shirley know!
A St Just Walk
On a beautifully sunny October morning, our hardy walking group set off for a trek in St Just.
In case you’re interested in joining Shirley for next month’s walk, it will be held on Wednesday 20 November and will be in St Clement.
