The Annual Book Club Summer Garden Party took place this week, with the wet weather preventing even a step into Colleen’s lovely garden. Nevertheless, with a scrumptious array of food and great company, a lovely afternoon was had by all. The book discussed was ‘The L-Shaped Room’ by Lynne Reid Banks and members pondered on the differences in society’s view of a single unmarried mother in 1960 and in modern times. Next month’s book club will be on Wednesday 26th July, at the usual time of 7.30pm when the book to talk about is ‘The Thread’ by Victoria Hislop. New members are always welcome (see Colleen for more details)
