Sun hats, sun dresses and sunglasses were aplenty as we beat the odds and proved the forecast from earlier in the week wrong with a gloriously sunny day for our garden party at Julia and Richard’s. Admittedly, we were teased with a little sprinkle of rain as members with friends and family arrived but 100% sunshine thereafter. Our wonderful hosts provided a sumptuous feast including bangers from the barbecue with committee members providing calorie free (ahem!!) desserts fit for a queen.
The jazz music in the background got toes tapping but did not succeed in drowning out the chatter and laughter that continued throughout the afternoon.
One of our members was amazed to see an original poster of an old train train station holiday poster in Julia’s loo ! She recognised herself wearing a dress made by her mother walking with her little niece. The man just behind them is actually the artist. Our member was walking up a street in Newlyn to her in-laws and the artist asked to take their picture. He then used the picture to create the poster incorporating himself into it too.
Never a dull moment with Crowlas and Ludgvan WI!
