Walking Group and Amblers
Both Shirley’s Walking Group and Amblers met this week.
Amblers went to Mousehole on Tuesday and had an interesting walk around the village accompanied by a couple of canine honorary members. They rounded off the stroll with a delicious early lunch and coffee in the Deli.
Shirley’s Walking Group were not deterred by the predicted rain on Wednesday and walked from St Keverne to Porthallow enjoying the sheltered wooded valleys . They were pleased to round off the trip, and warm up, with lunch in front of the log burner at Roskilly’s.
September Monthly Meeting
The Murley Hall was touched by a little magic on Monday Evening. Visiting speaker Yvonne Watson delighted members with tales of her life as a magician, from taming doves and rabbits to a coveted second place on Opportunity Knocks and working in the UK and overseas. Everyone was delighted when Yvonne performed some fantastic tricks to round off the evening,

Big Day Out 2017
The 2017 Crowlas and Ludgvan W I Big Day Out took members to Devon for a trip to RHS Garden Rosemoor and Dartington Glass. Sylvia wrote a few words after the event:
Having loaded up in Penzance the Coach picked up a number of us at in Crowlas and the next stop was to welcome on board all those waiting at St Erth.
The weather was not good, but natter and chatter was brilliant so we soon arrived to be welcomed at the RHS Rosemoor Gardens in good time. What a fantastic place and a great experience to be so enveloped by such a collection of plants.
After a delicious Lunch, we set off to Torrington, and Dartington Glass, following the Brown Signs, as the Coach Driver hadn’t been there before and didn’t know where he was going! Another fabulous experience for us, and for him and somewhat costly in Dartington’s Factory Shop! Who could resist?
Thank You, Crowlas and Ludgvan WI for such a lovely Educational Day Out with fantastic views of Dartmoor on the homeward bound journey out of Devon … and no Passports were required.
Many thanks to all those who made it such a delightful day.
Camera Club September Meeting
Camera Club
The next meeting of the Crowlas & Ludgvan WI Camera Club will take place at 1:30pm on Friday 8th September at the Jubilee Pool in Penzance.
We are not professionals, just a group of women who like taking photos! We visit different venues and scenic spots every month to take pictures. We share ideas, suggestions and tips with each other and are a supportive, friendly and very informal little group. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, please join us!
Why not come along to Coffee Beans in the morning and then to Camera Club in the afternoon, and make a full WI day of it!
Amblers
Our new walking group ‘Amblers’ is aimed at those who would like a stroll and chat with friendly like-minded people, but may not have the stamina for one of Shirley’s walks. September’s Amble saw eight people and five dogs walk from Long Rock to the Godolphin where they met Pat and Liz who had walked from Perranuthnoe. The glorious weather allowed for a cream tea in the sunshine before returning to Long Rock.
Flying Fingers
‘Flying Fingers’ stitching group met last Tuesday. Next meeting is Tuesday 8th of August. For more details contact Beth on 01736 741352 or bethmarshallpz@btinternet.com
Lafrowda Day
Well done to everyone who turned out in the drizzle to dress up in our brilliant Jampot costumes for Lafrowda Day.
Archery Taster
A great evening was had when members tried out Archery for a taster session hosted by The Lizard Bowmen. With one-to-one tuition from the friendly experts, everyone improved quickly and soon there were calls of ‘Gold End’ from along the line, signifying an archer has shot three arrows into the centre gold ring. After tea and biscuits the competitions began with chocolate prizes for winners. Many thanks to Val for organising .
