Our walk, from Constantine Church afforded us another opportunity to admire the wild flowers. The hedgerows are certainly looking their colourful best this month.
Our route from the Church took us through the outskirts of the pretty village. We followed a stream along a sheltered valley before eventually entering woods by the remains of an old water mill. From there we had a steady climb through mainly beech woods and bluebells.
We made frequent stops to look not only at bluebells but other plants and wild flowers. Our walk ended back at the Church where we had a picnic in a good sunny but breezy spot. (Report by Shirley)

April Monthly Meeting
The April meeting Crowlas and Ludgvan W I brought speaker Juliet Taylor to the Murley Hall for a fascinating talk on upholstering the Houses of Parliament. As an interior designer, Juliet was able to give members a unique perspective on the red and green of the Houses of Commons and Lords in the Palace of Westminster from behind the scenes. This month’s competition, for a handmade cushion, brought a record number of entries, and an array of colourful handicrafts was put on display.
April Walk
The 5 mile walk took us through woodland, farmland, small hamlets, past old mines and skirted industrial areas. The quiet roads, lanes and tracks eventually joined the Portreath to Devoran old tramway. Twice we crossed 2 high bridges over the busy A30 – a reminder of modern life! As usual we ended the morning with food and a well earned rest at The Fox and Hounds. (Report by Shirley. Photos by Pat)

Book Club
In March the Book Club met to discuss ‘The One in a Million Boy’ by Monica Wood. The book is described as being for anyone who loves to laugh, cry, and think about how extraordinary ordinary life can be. It was enjoyed by all and was given an overall score of 8/10. To add to the atmosphere of the evening Kathy made an extremely unusual cake as written about in the novel. Click the link to see the recipe and try it for yourself. Tomato Spice Cake. Members declared it delicious.
