August Monthly Meeting
The August Meeting was a very food orientated affair. Our Guest Speaker was Liz Llewellyn-Jones, known to many as a member of the CFWI as a member of the Board of Trustees. Liz talked about her career in Catering in the Royal Navy, with a selection of fascinating photographs and anecdotes that illustrated the fun and hard worked that it entailed. An August indoor picnic has become customary at CLWI, and members chose their sandwich variety and were presented with a paper picnic bag complete with individual picnic – the sandwiches wrapped in reusable Beeswax Wraps to take away. The committee had spend an enjoyable day making the wraps, some of which were also available to buy on the evening.

Tregonning Garden Visit
Party at Julia”s
Sun hats, sun dresses and sunglasses were aplenty as we beat the odds and proved the forecast from earlier in the week wrong with a gloriously sunny day for our garden party at Julia and Richard’s. Admittedly, we were teased with a little sprinkle of rain as members with friends and family arrived but 100% sunshine thereafter. Our wonderful hosts provided a sumptuous feast including bangers from the barbecue with committee members providing calorie free (ahem!!) desserts fit for a queen.Summer Sewing Workshop
This week Val P held a sewing workshop at her home. We had all been tasked to bring dress fabric, bias binding needles, threads and our sewing machines and Val provided the pattern and instructions to make a loose fitting versatile top.
One can not think of a better setting than a conservatory above Sennen beach to while away the hrs sewing. During the day all of us managed to finish our tops, except for the odd hem or sleeve to complete at home .(Wendie)

Camera Club
For their July Meeting Camera Club went to The Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, with a task to take one colour and one black and white photo to bring along to next month’s meeting. With a few clouds to make the sky interesting, beautiful gardens and, of course, the sculptures, members were spoilt for choice.
Next months meeting will be in Morrab Gardens on Friday 23rd August. See Helen for me details or if you would like to come along, with camera, phone or tablet to take your pictures.
July Walk
We were lucky to have cooler weather today – the coastal path from Mousehole to Lamorna involved a lot of ups & downs & some very tricky clambering over boulders! Quite a challenge! So we were very pleased to sit & eat our picnic on the beach at Lamorna. Our return inland through woods & farmland was much easier & provided wonderful views of Mounts Bay & Mousehole.
We all agreed it was a lovely walk & well worth the effort. The photograph was taken at Lamorna. (Shirley B)
Beach Clean
What a glorious morning for our beach clean! Crowlas and Ludgvan members joined forces with Germoe and District WI, plus family members, on Praa Sands Beach, armed with rubbish bags and gloves for a fantastic beach clean. Thank you Sylvia for organising everything, and well done to all who took part.
